Where to Find Images for Presentations

Table of contents.

Are you on a quest to find captivating, legally-sound free images for your presentations? Save time and avoid the legal maze with our curated list of platforms in this not-to-be-missed guide. Well we’ve done the hard work for you!

Here’s where to find images for presentations that will visually amplify your message.

A Few Important Notes To Take Into Consideration

Free image databases such as Unsplash, Pixabay, and Pexels provide high-quality, copyright-free images for various presentation needs, with specialized features like PowerPoint plugins. The downside, everyone has access to these sites . It takes away from the custom and uniqueness of the presentation.

Specialized stock photo sites like Shutterstock, iStock and Getty offer curated image collections for specific themes and preferences. With that level of selection comes a cost, but the output is a lot more customized and professional.

Discovering the Best Free Image Databases

Exploring Free Image Databases

In the era of digital content, copyright is a critical concern. Utilizing images without proper rights can land you in legal trouble, and buying stock pictures for every presentation can be an expensive affair. The remedy? Look no further than free image databases. These platforms house thousands of high-quality, inspiring images that are free from copyright constraints – a veritable treasure trove for presenters. Some popular free image databases include:

With these resources at your disposal, you can enhance your presentations without worrying about copyright infringement.

Among these, Pexels, Pixabay, and Unsplash stand out as leading platforms, offering a myriad of high-resolution images that can add a splash of creativity to your presentations.

Specialized Stock Photo Sites for Unique Needs

image search for presentations

While generic image repositories encompass a wide variety of topics and aesthetics, niche stock photography websites serve distinct visual communication needs. These services provide tailored assortments of photographs, with an emphasis on particular motifs, aesthetic approaches, or themes. Whether you’re in search of:

Retro-style photos

Pictures that capture the essence of entrepreneurship

Wildlife and nature imagery

Premium food and beverage photographs

Snapshots encapsulating travel and exploration

You’ll find a dedicated stock photo site to meet your requirements.

The challenge here is that paid photography can add up very quickly and sifting through hundreds, perhaps even thousands of images can get time consuming.

Leveraging Community-Powered Platforms for Fresh Content

As speakers, are always on the hunt for novel and captivating images to maintain the interest in our presentation material. This is where user-driven resources like Reshot and StockSnap come in.Io prove invaluable. Owing to a steady stream of contributions from users, these websites boast an extensive selection of new imagery available for use.

These platforms feature expanding collections that promise to keep your presentation graphics distinctive and compelling.

Tips for Using Images Effectively in Presentations

Possessing a vast collection of image assets is valuable, yet it’s the skillful application of these images within presentations that truly makes an impact. Implementing images with strategic precision can transform your presentation into an engaging story that captures and holds the attention of viewers. For this purpose, we have assembled some key advice to assist you in utilizing images effectively throughout your presentations.

Selecting appropriate images for individual slides while ensuring a coherent visual theme throughout your presentation are essential skills. Our tips aim to empower you with the expertise necessary to craft visually captivating presentations.

Choosing the Right Image for the Right Slide

images-for-presentation-03

It is essential to select an appropriate image for each slide, one that corresponds precisely with the subject of the slide while augmenting and strengthening the core message or data presented. It’s important that the emotional resonance of chosen images aligns with the intended feeling of the slide —be that professional, motivational, or instructional.

When picking out background images for your slideshows:

Make sure there is a visual congruence between them and both your primary messages as well as your brand identity.

Background imagery should add depth but not detract from or overwhelm what’s central on each slide.

By carefully choosing images, you can create a harmonious relationship between text and graphics which effectively promotes understanding of your principal points.

Editing and Customization Best Practices

After selecting the optimal images for your presentation slides, you must adjust them to integrate seamlessly. This requires tweaking and tailoring each image to complement the style of your presentation. You might need to trim, scale down or up, and modify the appearance of your images so that they align with your slide framework. Enhancing images within PowerPoint is straightforward. By adjusting brightness and contrast levels as well as adding artistic effects, you can significantly boost the visual impact of your slides .

I t’s crucial to maintain a uniform look throughout all of your slides too . This means ensuring that various images are cropped uniformly in size or shape, properly aligned on each slide and arranged according to a consistent layout structure. By sticking faithfully to these design principles while creating slides ensures not only an improved aesthetic harmony but also promotes coherence with the overarching theme and schematic approach of your entire presentation.

Check out some of our samples below:

Advanced Tools and Add-ins for Seamless Integration

Utilizing appropriate images can notably improve the quality of your PowerPoint presentations, and leveraging sophisticated tools and add-ins can elevate their effectiveness even further. These advanced resources facilitate the incorporation of visual components into your slides, streamlining the creation of polished and captivating presentations.

Power-user is an example of such a tool that enhances PowerPoint with its comprehensive functionality. It provides users with enhanced chart integration capabilities, automatic formatting options, as well as an extensive collection of templates, icons, and flags to enrich their presentations.

Presentation images: 10 resources to find visuals for presentations

Get your team on prezi – watch this on demand video.

Avatar photo

Prezi April 11, 2019

If you want to give a knockout presentation that grabs your audience members and keeps them engaged, including imagery is key. Presentation images can be arranged in a strategic order when it comes to slides, or, if you’re using a platform like Prezi, you can navigate to reveal them at the most opportune moment. Whether you’re creating a slide-based presentation or using Prezi’s structures , one thing’s for sure: the strategic use of images can create an effective, memorable masterpiece that’s sure to win over anyone you present to.

The best part? You can easily find tons of resources for presentation images around the web. Check out some of our favorites below!

1. Death to the Stock Photo

Death to the Stock Photo aims to eliminate the boring, inauthentic images available from most stock photo websites and databases with an offering that’s much like today’s popular monthly subscription box model. When you sign up, you’ll receive a monthly batch of high-resolution photos that cover a wide range of subject matter—so you can find the perfect visual metaphor or individual photos for your presentation.

Each pack explores a different theme with 20+ photos, which are edited and refined by Death to the Stock’s production team before being dropped into your account library. Their homepage also offers a few free image packs if you want to give them a whirl without the commitment. Here are a few good images for presentations from their Craft collection:

2. New Old Stock

Want to give your presentation a vintage feel? The high-resolution historic images from New Old Stock are perfect for spicing up your presentation with the atmosphere of another era, whether you choose to use a sepia-toned photo from the turn of the 20th century or a breezy black-and-white snapshot from the 1960s.

You can search their archives for a specific topic and download the individual results for free, such as the images below. Or, you can purchase image packs that have been optimized, cropped, and edited by the New Old Stock team for quick use. Each image within the pack is a minimum of 1000px wide and in .jpg format. Check out these potential presentation images:

Their collection of free photos is one of the largest and best-organized options you’ll find. And, as an added bonus, they also have free stock videos so you can start mixing up your presentation media ( a key to audience engagement ).

The site is community-powered, so their collection of photos grows every day. Additions are hand-picked from photos uploaded by their users or sourced from free image websites (you too can contribute if you’d like). All photos uploaded to Pexels are licensed under the Pexels license, meaning you can use them for free for personal and commercial purposes.

7. Kaboompics

Kaboompics handles their search functionality in a unique way. In addition to keywords, you can also search for presentation images by color. Kaboompics also provides a complementary palette of colors with the photo of your choosing, which you can use to help design the rest of your presentation with style.

Pikwizard is a relatively new free stock photo library, but they already boast an impressive collection of high-quality images (with 20,000 of them being exclusive to their site). No attribution is required, and you can also edit presentation images with their graphic design tool, Design Wizard.

While they have a large range of images, what helps them stand out is their fantastic selection of photos of people, something that’s missing from many other stock photography sites.

Bonus: Awesome presentation picture resources in Prezi

While all the sites we listed here are great for discovering beautiful, high-quality pictures for your presentations, an even quicker way to build out a visually compelling piece of content is to search for images from inside the presentation tool itself. You can do this if your product of choice is Prezi Present .

When you’re in the editor, just use the right-hand column to search for the theme you need and drag the results right onto your canvas. This also works for presentation backgrounds and icons, essentially making Prezi your one-stop shop.

For building interactive visuals for presentations, use Prezi Design . You can create presentation images, graphs, racing charts, infographics, and maps – all of which the audience can movement and and extra layer of interactivity to your presentation.

If you’re new to the Prezi universe, start by checking some of our favorite presentation examples on our gallery page to get an idea of the different looks you can achieve. Last year, the People’s Choice award went to Hello Tomorrow for this beauty:

At the end of the day, Prezi is a great presentation platform for marketing, sales, education, and more. Its one-of-a-kind open canvas works wonders for any topic by letting you organize and view your presentation as a whole rather than the piecemeal style of slides. You then simply zoom in to whichever area of the presentation you need to present.

Think of using Prezi over slides as a bit like using Google Maps over a printed sheet of instructions. While the printed sheet of instructions can surely get you to where you need to go, the dynamic experience of Google Maps allows you to zoom in, look around, and orient yourself to your destination at any point in your journey. This is a more complete picture and makes understanding your route a whole lot easier. And it’s the same when it comes to presenting a story to an audience. When they can see how the components of your narrative link together, they won’t end up getting lost and zoning out.

Some other key features include:

  • Presentation templates : We have beautiful templates for any situation, from marketing and sales to nonprofit and education.
  • Story blocks : Save time and effort with our pre-designed presentation “building blocks” in lots of useful formats. Just drag, drop, and customize.
  • Charts : Create gorgeous graphs and charts, then zoom in to reveal the stories in your data with supporting text, images, or videos.
  • Brand kit : Make sure your team is always producing on-brand content. Teams customers can upload their brand colors, fonts, and logo to create their own brand kit and share it with their team. Anyone on the team can easily implement your brand’s style to a presentation.

Check out these features and more in action in an on-demand demo , or, if you’re ready to start exploring all of your options, contact us or sign up for an account .

It is often said that a picture is better than a thousand words, a good picture can grab attention and get your message across. There are many websites to download free stock images for presentations. But it’s not easy to download high-quality free images for presentations especially when you do not know where to download free pictures for presentations.

There’s one question we get asked quite often:  Where can I find free pictures that are high quality for PowerPoint presentations?

Nowadays, there are so many websites that can download free pictures for presentations. In this post, we’ll share 14 websites for free high-quality pictures for presentations.

  • Life of Pix
  • Depositphotos
  • Gratisography
  • Burst(by Shopify)

After finding out high-quality pictures for your presentations, you should know how to insert pictures into your presentations in PowerPoint.

Because there are so many websites to download free stock images for presentations, this post covers quite a lot of ground! It’s a long read, so feel free to use the table of contents below to jump around.

Basic terms

2. unsplash, 4. freeimages, 5. picjumbo, 6. kaboompics, 7. stocksnap, 8. life of pix, 9. depositphotos, 10. gratisography, 11. stockvault, 12. pikwizard, 13. rawpixel, 14. burst(by shopify).

Before downloading and using any pictures, we need to understand their terms of use. before we get started, we should understand the following terms:

1. Creative Commons

Creative Commons is a nonprofit organization that enables the sharing and use of creativity and knowledge through free legal tools. There are various types of  Creative Commons licenses  that range from allowing any type of use with no attribution to allowing only certain uses and no changes.

2. Public Domain

Works in the public domain are those whose copyrights have expired, have been forfeited, or are inapplicable. Finding something on the internet does not mean it is in the public domain.

3. Royalty-Free

Royalty-free images aren’t necessarily free. In most cases, you’ll have to pay a one-time fee to obtain the rights to use the image. Then you can use it as many times as you like. The “free” in “royalty-free” only means that you do not have to pay royalties to the owner of the image every time you use it.

Note: you can download the template used in this post for free.

14 websites to find free stock images for presentations

I will check the home pages, search results pages, and download pages of these sites. When we search on these sites, we use the same term “business”.

Pexels is one of my favorite sites to find free stock images for presentations. You can find many high-quality free pictures for your presentations. And all images are free for personal and commercial use.

Pexels - Homepage - best websites to download free stock images for presentations

The homepage is clean and easy to use.

Pexels - the search rusluts page

You can get so many high-quality images by searching.

When we click on an image, a high-definition preview will emerge, you can also click on the preview image to enlarge the preview. For most presentations, we can copy the preview images and paste them into our Presentation instead of downloading them.

Right-click on the image and click “copy image”, and then choose the picture placeholder you want to use and press Ctrl+V .

Please note: You can use this method to insert pictures into your presentations only if your picture placeholders are rectangular.

Pexels - License

Pexels has  its own license , which states what you can and cannot do with the images. You can use and modify the images for free for both commercial and personal use without attribution.

You can do whatever you want with their collection of over 300,000 beautiful, high-resolution images from more than 50,000 contributors.

Unsplash - Homepage - best websites to download free stock images for presentations

The search results are very good.

Like Pexels, the preview image of the picture on the download page is large enough to be used in our presentation.

 Unsplash - License

Unsplash has  its own license , which essentially lets you use the images for free, in any way you like, except for using them to create a competing website.

Pixabay has a very large database of high-quality free stock images for presentations. Another big advantage of Pixabay is that they also offer vectors and illustrators.

Pixabay - Homepage - best websites to download free stock images for presentations

In addition to photos, other types of images, such as vectors, appear on the search results page.

Pixabay - the image download page

On the download page, the preview image is small, so we should not copy the preview image to our presentations, and we will need to download the image before inserting it into our presentations. There’s a related image section on the right side that’s very helpful for us to find similar images.

Images on Pixabay are licensed under Creative Commons Zero (CC0) , which means you can use the images without asking for permission or giving credit to the artist (though it’s always appreciated).

Free Images provides over 300,000 free stock images.

Freeimages - Homepage - best websites to download free stock images for presentations

I like the home page design of this site very much.

Freeimages - the search rusluts page

Although there are so many pictures on this site, it also contains some low-quality pictures, which we need to choose from in the search results. There are many options on the left side of the search results for further filtering.

Freeimages - the image download page

The resolution of the preview image on the download page is low, so we need to download the image to our computer before inserting it into a presentation.

Free Images has  its own license . The license allows a very broad range of uses, though it does list several restricted use cases (which are quite common for most free image sites).

It is a thriving free stock photo community with a big selection of beautiful photos.

PicJumbo - Homepage - best websites to download free stock images for presentations

Although the home page has some ads, it still looks very clean, the design of the homepage is my favorite style. The search bar is in the upper left corner, I think it is a little small, and not easy to find out.

PicJumbo - the search rusluts page

The number of pictures on the site is not very large, but the quality of these pictures is very high.

PicJumbo - the image download page

The preview image on the download page is large enough to be used in most presentations, so we can copy it to our slides.

PicJumbooffers a variety of free images for any kind of use—free of charge with no registration required. Pictures on the site can be used for presentations or PowerPoint templates, even if these templates are for sale.

Kaboompics is a royalty-free service for stock images. To this day the site has gathered over 6 million impressions, and the photos have been downloaded over 21 million times.

Kaboompics - Homepage - best websites to download free stock images for presentations

The home page is minimal. I like it very much.

Search results can also be further filtered and sorted, which is very useful.

Kaboompics - the image download page

On the download page, the preview image is small. We should download the high-resolution images and insert them into our presentations.

There are two things that I love about Kaboompics: one, it allows me to search by color, and two, it provides a complementary palette of colors in the photo.

Kaboompics has  its own license too, which is like Creative Commons Zero except that you cannot redistribute its photos.

All images on Stocksnap are  free  to use, for absolutely any purpose whatsoever.

Thanks so much for reading all the way to the end of the blog post. I have some advice for using images in PowerPoint:

  • Check the license of the image before downloading and using it.
  • You can copy the preview image to your presentation instead of downloading the image if the resolution of the preview image is enough large.

If you do not know how to insert pictures into your presentations in PowerPoint, you can check this article .

How-to: Finding Free Stock Photos For Your Presentation

image search for presentations

They say a picture is worth a thousand words— but how much is that actually worth in your wallet?

Imagery is a strong tool for many different aspects of a business. From marketing assets and sales collateral to pitch decks and proposals, good photography can take your efforts to the next level. But where do you find the images you need? The way we see it, companies have two options; 1) take the photos themselves in-house, or 2) outsource by way of stock photography websites or freelance photographers. Obviously with the latter, you run the risk of being hit with licensing costs and usage agreements.

But maybe it doesn’t have to be that hard.

In this blog, we share the importance of photography in presentations, when it’s acceptable for your presentation to include a photo found on the internet, and how to find free stock photos in Beautiful.ai. Let’s dive in.

The power of photos in presentations

It’s no secret that images are important in presentations, they help put your story in context for your audience. Collectively, your audience remembers 80 percent of what they see, as opposed to 20 percent of what they read and 10 percent of what they hear. We’re visual learners, there’s no doubt about it. So it goes without saying that strong visuals can help your presentation land better with your audience.

The power of photos in presentations is three-fold.

Images support the overall branding of your presentation. Any image you use should be consistent with your story, and your brand. Selecting high quality images for your presentation that align with your other marketing assets will help build trust and familiarity with your audience.

If there’s a slide full of text, and a slide with one big, beautiful image, which one will your eyes be drawn to? We’d be willing to bet it’s the image. By using relevant imagery within your presentation, you’re demanding the attention of your audience and keeping them more engaged than they would have been otherwise.

As we mentioned above, your audience will remember what they see before they’ll remember what they read. In fact, research done by 3M (the OG’s of Post-it Notes), revealed that visuals are processed 60,000 times faster than text. Consider that when you’re deciding whether to use a text box or an image to drive a point home. Using the right imagery can help those with (and even those without ) photographic memories remember what you told them long after they’ve left the meeting.

When is it acceptable for your presentation to include a photo found on the internet?

The million dollar question: what images are you actually able to use without paying for usage rights? It depends on what you need it for. Wanting a free stock photo for commercial use is different from using a stock photo for a class presentation. But you can check the licensing all the same. If you’re googling specific photos, you can toggle between usage rights in the image search tools to see what images are okay to snag from the Internet and repurpose for business or personal use. That said, stock photography websites are generally a safe zone as all of their photos are royalty-free and available for download with the click of a button. Some of our favorites are Pixabay, Pexels, and Unsplash.

Finding the best free stock photos in Beautiful.ai

Finding free stock photos anywhere on the internet is relatively easy. There are plenty of stock imagery websites that offer royalty-free photography and free downloads. But when you’re elbows deep in your presentation, and really cranking away at your slides, the last thing you want to do is leave the presentation to scour the internet for the perfect photo, then have to download it, re-open your slide and upload the photo to your deck. So, we removed two of those steps for you.

Beautiful.ai offers hundreds of thousands of free images right within the product. When you want to add an image to the slide, you can simply click the camera icon and search our free library without ever having to leave your presentation. You can instantly see which images work with your content without having to go back and forth from Google to your deck.

With stock photography there’s always a preconceived notion that everything is too “stocky”, AKA stale, dated images. We don’t want that for you, or your presentation, so we pulled in hundreds of thousands of free images from some of the top stock photography websites so that there's truly something for everyone, every team, and every story.

Top 8 Resources to find FREE Pictures for your Presentation

Best free resources to find images for presentations

Let’s say- you are creating a presentation on ‘Organizational Guide for Beginners’ and you want to add images of a cluttered and an organized closet to demonstrate the difference to your audience. Now, what do you do?

For MOST of us, our immediate reflex will be to go over the internet, have a quick google image search, find pictures you like, and insert them into your slide.

But hold on, do you know that while doing this, you might be violating the copyright law?

copyright laws

Over time, I’ve come across SO MANY presentations openly violating the copyright terms and conditions . While ignorance is bliss at times, sometimes it can get you into serious trouble. Here’s why-

The image owner can find you and penalize you for using a particular image without seeking proper permission and providing appropriate source crediting.

Simply put- Not all the images you find over the internet are free to use, distribute, and edit. Thus, we must only incorporate images that are allowed to be reused.

What are the images you can use in your presentation?

Photographs shot exclusively by you.

Shoot your own images

Let’s face it- it’s the simplest but sadly, a time-consuming way. You can’t possibly step out and find exact moments for you to shoot. It can be tiresome and at times, nearly impossible.

Suppose, you want to add a picture of a peaceful protest while creating a presentation on ‘Freedom of Expression in a Democracy’. Now, you just can’t expect to step out of your home and find a protest taking place near to you. That’s exactly where free online resources come to play (More on this in next point)

Licensed Images on the internet (No copyright issues)

resources available for free images

To our relief, there are a few resources on the web which provide you with properly licensed images for you to download, distribute, modify, and use for commercial and personal purposes.

To save you your precious time, we’ve found the top 10 resources (The Best Ones Out There!) for you to find pictures for your next presentation. Hope this helps!

1. unsplash.

Unsplash provides its users with a huge collection of high-resolution images available under its own license (Unsplash License). With its dedicated team of around 207,000 photographers from all over the world, it has managed to create an extensive photo library hosting 2 million images.

unsplash website

License Agreement

All the images are available under its own license- Unsplash License

How does it work?

Unsplash has its very own team of dedicated photographers. This team upload their image entries on the site allowing users to reuse those images. In addition to this, users can contribute their own collection on this platform.

Major Perks:

  • All images can be downloaded and used for absolutely free
  • Available for both commercial and non-commercial uses
  • Exercise your creative freedom to use, modify, distribute and edit the images in whichever way you like
  • The images can be used without permissions or attributions (Though, unsplash appreciates attributions but it’s not necessary!)

2. Desygner

Be it a school presentation or a heavy stake work presentation, you can rely upon desygner to offer you professional and high-quality royalty-free images.

Along with the free access to millions of free images, you can also get your hands on Shutterstock images as well by upgrading to Desygner Pro+ at the cost of $ 4.95. To learn more about their pricing plans, click here .

The collection of free images are available under creative commons zero license.

Along with providing its users the free images, Desygner provides a wide array of free templates to level up your presentation game.

  • The images can be used without permissions or attributions to the photographer
  • Free presentation templates to level up your presentation aesthetic

Pexels provides its users with a vast collection of carefully curated high-resolution images. It’s a community-powered resource, that is, the users can upload the images owned by them and help the global community. How brilliant is that!

As an added advantage, one can find a distinct range of videos on this platform, all available for free use.

Just like Unsplash, Pexels has its own license- Pexels License

Pexels handpicks its collection from the photos uploaded by the users as well as the images derived from the free images websites.

  • The images can be used without permissions or attributions (Though, pexels appreciates attributions but it’s not necessary!)

This community-powered platform provides its users with plethora of images, videos, vectors and illustrations, all available for free use.

The rich collection of media is available under the Pixabay License.

Like above-mentioned resources, this platform too is community-powered.

  • Exercise your creative freedom to use, modify and edit the images in whichever way you like
  • The images can be used without permissions or attributions (Though, pixabay appreciates attributions but it’s not necessary!)

5. Freerange

With its dynamic collection of images, this platform enables you to access its rich collection of free images available for reuse and modification purposes.

All the images are available under Equalicense.

With the support of in-house photographers and users contributions, Freerange’s collection is ever-growing and rich in the content available.

  • The images can be used without permissions or attributions (Though, freerange appreciates attributions but it’s not necessary!)

6. Creative Commons

This site is significantly different from others of its kind. It is essentially a network which provides its users to get a public license for their photographs as well as hosts a search function for users to find free licensed images.

Although, one has to be cautious while searching for images on this site. Some images can be used commercially. Some images can be modified. Not all images hold the perks of commercial use and image modification purposes.

So, make sure that while searching for images on this site for your presentation, you’ve check marked both these boxes.

7. Kaboompics

With optimized search options, this platform enables a hassle-free search for its users by giving them the liberty to filter the results by image orientation, color palette, time of upload and popularity.

The media is available under its own license- Kaboompics License

It is a community-powered platform but with advanced and more simplified filter options for users to find relevant images for their presentations in the least amount of time.

  • The images can be used without permissions or attributions

Canva, a graphic designing platform, allows its users to find free media as they create their designs.

Yes, you heard it right! On canva, you can create your presentation and find relevant images then and there without the need to navigate through a number of websites to get your hands on free images.

But be sure to incorporate only the free media and not the premium options available out there as they charge you a certain amount to use their premium collection.

How to search for images on these resources?

Step 1: Google search for the website and open it

Step 2: Type your search in the search window (Pro Tip- Try being as specific as possible for an easy and hassle-free search)

DON’TS of using FREE Image Resources

1. Creating a competing website

Whatever you do just refrain from redistributing and selling the images on other websites. The worst thing you can do here is to create a competing website of your own by resorting to unfair means.

If you still choose to do so, pray that the owner of that image doesn’t find you because rest assured, the copyright laws won’t do any good for your professional career.

Thus, it’s in your best interest to make the most of these free resources by using the images available in an ethical manner.

2. Portraying identifiable people in a negative light

Always keep in mind that the photographs provide context but the caption provides the story.

So, it’s important for you to make sure that the identifiable people are not portrayed in a negative light or in any way that can be offensive through the content of your presentation.

Final Thoughts

Well, PowerPoint Presentations can be boring and bland without proper imagery. But it’s just as important for you to have GOOD Images (license-free photos) in your presentation.

So, in this blog, we tried to save your precious time by providing you an insight into our top picks when it comes to incorporating images for our presentations.

Doing the right thing doesn’t automatically bring success. But compromising ethics almost always leads to failure. Erika Andersen

Let’s not compromise our ethics, even when it comes to something as simple as creating a presentation.

Professionalism goes a long way. You won’t want someone to penalize you for not following copyright laws when it comes to your presentations. Make sure you are incorporating the right images into your presentation the right way.

Happy searching!

11 Awesome and Free Image Resources for Your Next Presentation

Images make presentations and videos better. Not Text. Not Audio. It is the image that rules this world.

Why? Because images have the power to trigger an immediate and emotional response. This is especially true when it comes to presentations.

athlete-body-cinder-track

But, Not all images are created equal.

When I refer to powerful images, I am referring to GOOD images. Not the cut-and-paste stock images of men in business suits with bright, bleach white teeth laughing at what he sees on the computer screen. I’m talking about clever images, scenic images, animated images, and images that are full of color, life, and originality. The images that take us to a different reality are the ones that leave a lasting impression.

So, we found you 11 websites that will provide you with the best Free images available on the web .

Copyright Warning

One major caveat before we move on; there is a little thing called COPYRIGHT that can cause a big problem. Let’s say you finally find an awesome photo you want to include in your presentation. If you are using a library of free images, in the creative commons public domain , then you are in the clear.

If not, then you have 2 choices: you can download the image, close your eyes and pray that the image owner will not find you and sue you. (You should also pray that karma doesn’t bite you in the butt, tools like TinEye are getting better at spotting image thieves). Or you can pick the safer and morally justified route; just agree to the terms and conditions of the copyright . This usually means that you will have to add a link to the image URL or an owner attribution at the bottom, or in the worst case scenario, you may have to pay a small fee (if commercial use is involved).

Now that you know WHY images are so important and HOW to use them, here’s where you’ll find them: 11 Best FREE Image Resources.

1. Animated Characters

The immense power of the animated image is often overlooked. Cartoon characters and animations have the power to convey a message in a way that a ‘real human’ or ‘real scene’ could never accomplish. Kellogg’s is a great case study. Would Frosted Flakes sell so well if a middle-aged woman told you ‘Theeeeey’re great’? Nope. It’s a whole lot cooler if a cartoon tiger told you how unbelievable his bowl of cereal is. Below is an example of the standard business handshake and the same scene using Powtoon Characters .

stock-footage-businessmen-shaking-hands

2. Pexels.com

Pexels.com is a search engine for CC0 images (creative commons zero), with funky categories like vintage, abstract, and tech. Browsing through the wide range of styles and themes is a real treat for the eye. You can scroll randomly or set the filter by categories like ‘new’ and ‘trending’ photos.

grass-hands-moss-4627-825x550

3. Freeimages.com

The title says it all; loads of free images. In addition, you can see how many people have downloaded each image, just in case you wanted to use a more popular image or perhaps the opposite is true, maybe you’re in the mood to be a trendsetter.

free images

4. New Old Stock

Ever wonder who owns the rights to a cool vintage photo from the 1920’s? The answer is usually NO ONE — they are dead. But, just to be sure, you’ve come to the right place. New Old Stock has a great collection of real vintage photos taken from the public archives that are completely free of known copyright restrictions.

5. StockSnap.io

StockSnap.io stands out for 3 major reasons: it has an easy search bar, adds new images frequently and — the cherry on top of the sundae — every single image is free from attribution. I think the site could be renamed don’t-worry-this-image-is-good-to-go.com.

6. Unsplash

Unsplash definitely makes a splash, a huge splash. The variety and quality of their high-resolution pics make them a top choice for bloggers and website owners alike.

7. Superfamous Studios

If you like Nature and Geography, especially mountains, rocks and water- this is the place for you. ‘ Superfamous ‘ is the Los Angeles-based studio of Dutch interaction designer Folkert Gorter. As long as you add a tiny attribution to Folkert, the images can be downloaded and used for whatever your heart desires.

8. Picjumbo

Picjumbo is a quite interesting collection of free photos that can be used for your commercial & personal works. Many of the pictures contain abstract themes, therefore, your search may not always deliver the typical results you’d expect. I typed in ‘Roses’ into the search and here’s the second picture that showed up:

9. Wikipedia

Yeah, I know… Wikipedia!? Wikipedia may be overused and a bit boring as far as common objects or themes are concerned, but when it comes to specifics, such as foreign foods or microorganisms, almost no other site can compete. In addition the guidelines for image use are laid out nicely and clearly under each image. Below is your average Philanthus triangulum feeding on nectar.

10. Getrefe

Getrefe calls themselves the place ‘where humanity and technology collide’ and they provide royalty-free, high-quality, natural looking photos of people interacting with technology. Many photos have an artsy Instagram feel. But be aware, they do have galleries of images that charge a fee.

11. Pixabay

This Google-Images style search is fantastic because the results page allows you to see so many options in one place. The drop down menu is pretty cool and allows you to sort from ‘Vector graphics’, ‘Illustrations’, and even ‘Wildcard Matches’.

How can I search for a powerpoint using a picture I inserted?

I created a file a few months ago and inserted (embedded?) a few images.  I cannot file that dang file now but I know the name of the image files.  How can I locate this powerpoint using the image file(s) I inserted?

Please help as I don't feel like starting that presentation all over again.

There's no way to search for a file based on the images it contains, though if you know any text included in the file, you could search for that instead.

Windows Search can do all sorts of things that might be useful but using it to do that stuff is incredibly arcane IF you can find the documentation that describes how to do it in the first place.

Instead, I'd download the free Agent Ransack

You can use it to search, for example, for all PPTX files created after one date and before another date.  That should narrow the search considerably.  You can launch any file it finds by doubleclicking in the found files list.

How to search for an image on Google: Use reverse search, Google Lens and more

T he first camera was invented in 1816 , and the first photo was taken in 1826. Now, over two centuries since the camera’s invention, billions of photos have been taken, many of which are only a Google search away.

There are 136 billion images on Google Images as of July 2022, according to Photutorial. That number is projected to grow to 382 billion by 2030.

Whether you’re looking for a specific image or trying to find information about a photo you’ve found, here’s the information you need — including an explanation of Google Lens, an image recognition software launched by Google in 2017 .

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

How to search for an image on Google

There are two ways to search for an image using Google:

  • Use the search bar to enter your query — and click on the “Images” after you have entered your search
  • Go to images.google.com, which will take you directly to a collection of images after entering your query

How to search using an image on Google

If you want more information about an image, you can use a reverse image search. By placing a photo or a link to an image in the search bar, you can discover websites that use the image, as well as related images and information.

To use Google’s reverse image search feature on your computer, you can follow these simple steps:

  • Go to images.google.com.
  • Click the camera button in the search bar.
  • You can upload an image by dragging it into the upload box or by clicking the “upload a file” button, which should open your computer’s library. Alternatively, below the upload box is a bar in which you can paste a link to an image you found online.

How to reverse image search on your phone

To perform a reverse image search for an image on your phone, you can follow these steps , according to Business Insider:

  • Open the Google app on your Android or Apple device.
  • Tap on the camera icon in the Google search bar.
  • When prompted, allow Google to access your camera and photo gallery. If you have denied the Google app access to your camera or photo gallery in the past, you may have to manually give the app permission in your device’s settings.
  • Once you’ve allowed Google to access your camera and photos, you can search for related images by selecting a file from your device or snapping a picture in the Google app.

How to use Google Lens

You can use Google Lens’ image recognition software on any image to find related images and other information.

If you’re already on Google Images on your phone or handheld device, and you see a picture you’d like to search with, you can simply click the Google Lens button in the top right corner of a selected photo — shaped like a square camera with rounded corners, with a circular lens in the middle — to uncover a slew of related images.

For photos with multiple items Google Lens recognizes, you can click or tap to select the item in the image that interests you most.

If you want to search using an image in your camera roll or an item near you, you can also use your phone’s camera or photo gallery to search with Google Lens.
