Get Paid to Blog About Anything!

We all have our own interests and hobbies.

And when it comes to writing, we don’t all want to write about the same thing.

That’s why we searched high and low to find sites that pay you for articles on different topics. So you literally can get paid to write about anything, even your life.

Let’s get started…

Please DON’T Submit AI Written Content

Please do not submit articles that have been written by AI, such as Chat GPT, to any of the sites listed.

Remember that making money as a writer takes hard work and dedication, and while AI may be a useful tool, it cannot replace the value of human creativity and authenticity.

Lincoln, I’ll be happy to help. Which link/site takes you to the homepage?

We tried to provide links to each site’s “submission” or “writer guideline” page, where you can learn how to submit your content. However, there is a possibility that we might have missed a few here and there. If that is the case, I apologize in advance.

writing articles for money in india

writing articles for money in india

How do I submit articles to moneypantry?

Please see Get paid to write for MoneyPantry . However, for the time being, we are not accepting new submissions.

writing articles for money in india

Your article is poorly written (and it’s about writing!) Also misleading. The chances for acceptance by many of these publications is very low for the average freelancer. Writers have enough struggles and don’t need false hopes and misinformation.

Sorry for the “poorly written” article. I don’t claim to be a professional writer. And this post isn’t a “how to be a better writer” kind of post. Just a list of places that pay freelance writers. That’s all.

As for it being misleading, I don’t see that at all. At no point in this article have I suggested that this is walk in the park and that everyone is going to get their submissions accepted. I’d think if you are a freelance writer, you’d already know that not every single article you submit is going to get accepted.

writing articles for money in india

writing articles for money in india

A Great article. As usual Moneypantry have something useful to share. Thank you for the useful write-up , Satrap. As for some of the above comments-of course , there is no guarantee, when submit an article it will be automatically approved. In fact there are many cases when one publisher will refuse to post your text, while another will be happy to do it

Natalie, Thanks for the feedback, I’m glad you find the site useful!

writing articles for money in india

Hey! Great info! I got the idea to come to your list here from a YT video sometime back. Unfortunately it took me a while to really get serious about doing this, so I am just now actually trying to begin submitting articles. However, a year ago there seemed to be some mags where I could submit self-help. But after going through your list, I’m very sorry to see that their seems to be nothing for that genre? And I am really surprised actually. I thought vibrant life lets you submit self-help but now I see it’s only from a Christian perspective. The only mags I also see here that offer for articles on spirituality/meditation are also ONLY Christian perspective pieces accepted it seems. I know you have listed here all you know. Just hoping maybe you’ll keep an eye for self-help? OR someone who reads this comment may hopefully have a suggestion. BTW: Idk what ole “Bivitus'” problem is in one of the previously written comments. But he comes off like a real ungrateful jerk quite frankly! So sorry someone has the uncouthness to say something not only THAT RUDE, but also just plain inaccurate! Thank you so much for posting these helpful resources. Yes, most of your readers have enough common sense to know we actually have to do some real work AND have some real talent to get published! Apparently “Bivitus” doesn’t make that cut, and is taking HIS inadequacies out on you! Again so sorry about that! You don’t deserve it!

Hi, I would like to write some articles on various topics but as I am in the U.K. would this be an issue as all payments are in American currency. You don’t see many adverts for U.K. based sites for starting a new career option.

I don’t think it will be a problem if you are in the U.K. Most pay by PayPal and PayPal automatically converts U.S. Dollar to GBP.

Danielle, sorry for the hassle. They have removed that page, and I can’t find any info about whether or not they accept submissions anymore. I’ll update the post accordingly. In the meantime, if you like to write about RV-related topics, RVTravel.com accepts submissions. They don’t mention pay, but they do say, “Hey, you may find a home with us as a regular (paid) contributor or columnist.” So you could try them!

Thank you for having listed Transitions Abroad, but we are currently redesigning the site and thus not accepting submissions (articles for us, not blog posts, as we have always been a resource since my father founded the magazine in 1977.).

We noted that we were not accepting submissions in the Writer’s Guidelines some time ago, even as the pandemic also played a huge factor, but that was not picked up by many who have sent us many kinds of material and questions.

Thank you so much,

Thanks Greg. I have updated the post with the new information.

writing articles for money in india

Good day. I was very interested in the site and what was offered on its pages. But I have a question. I live in Belarus on the border with Poland. It’s no secret that we are in a difficult situation right now. I am Jewish on my mother’s side and I have a lot of material about attempts to immigrate to Israel, about the search for documents and about the state of the synagogue in Brest, about my family and its problem. I write poetry, but in order to be published here, you need a lot of money. And the articles that I have are impossible to publish due to unpredictable consequences. What language should I write in? Is it possible in Russian and use Google to translate into English? Thank you.

Hi Lutso, these sites are all in English so they only accept articles written in English. Unfortunately, you can not use Google translate since it really doesn’t do well when it comes to long content.

writing articles for money in india

Hi!! I would like to personally thank you so very much. Clearly a lot of time and effort went into creating the great article you so kindly provided us. Appears that there are some that obviously feel that you didn’t do quite enough. It seems that you are also responsible for holding hands and walking through each and every step. For each individual website. For each and every individual who can’t quite put forth a bit of effort toward figuring out things for themselves. Like where to submit. How do they pay? Do they pay in Crypto? I want to write about —-. Yikes. I guess the old saying is actually true—- give them all the info they need, make it really easy, give them a map, give them a flashlight — they are still helpless. I am so sorry that nobody seems to appreciate the wealth of information you have handed us. Thank you so much. Now I have a starting point.

Thank you for the kind words. You are so kind and considerate.

I agree. All the information in the world won’t help you if you don’t use it to advance yourself.

I’m glad we can at least provide useful information. If it helps even a few people, we are happy!

Thank you for being a loyal reader of MoneyPantry. I’m glad the information provided here is useful for you. Good luck on your journey.

P.S. Please consider sharing our post/site on your social media pages. It would help us spread the word greatly. Thanks in advance!

Are Indian Writers Compensated by Medium in 2024? (Explained)

In today’s evolving online content creation era, Medium is one of the unique platforms that connects writers and avid writers. For the writers, the idea of sharing ideas and opinions with a large audience is surely tempting. The question is: Does Medium do justice along with these writers by providing them the support through remuneration?

Are Indian Writers Compensated by Medium in 2024

There are many more questions in the writer’s mind and in this article, we’ll clear different programs and methods the Medium platform uses to pay Indian writers.

Are Indian Writers Compensated by Medium in 2024?

Does Medium Pay to Indian Writers?

What is the medium partner program in india, steps to get enrolled in medium partner program, process to make stories eligible to earn money, how much indian writers get from medium platform, major reasons behind less compensation.

Previously the Indian writers were not able to earn using the Medium platform as they could not participate in the programs launched by Medium that could cultivate any kind of money making.

But August 2023 was a revolutionary time for Medium writers as now, Medium launched the Medium Partner Program (MPP) . It has brought significant changes for the Indian writers present on Medium, who were previously excluded from this program and now using this program they can earn routinely for their writings.

After much anticipation and hope, the Medium Partner Program (MPP) is now open to Indian creators on Medium to earn money by writing on Medium. Indian writers now have additional options to be compensated for their exceptional writing work after this revolution .

On August 1, 2023, when MPP was first expected to launch in India, Medium announced it would be two months away and disappointed the people a bit at that point . Indian writers were tensed as the next date approached, October 1, 2023, hoping the MPP would finally reach their way. Although the launch may have happened a few days earlier than expected, Indian writers can be finally relieved and can celebrate that MPP is live from September 25, 2023. The Partner Program allows writers to earn money for the stories they publish on Medium based on engagement and activity from Medium members.

For Indian creators who are ready to monetize their posted content on the platform, the process to join MPP is straightforward and simple:

  • First the user needs a Stripe account . Medium uses the payment service named Stripe to manage its financial transactions. If not having a Stripe account yet, kindly created to get the payments.
  • Next, go to the Medium Partner Program page and link your new Stripe account. This includes your payment information.
  • Tax information should also be confirmed with Tipalti, Medium’s payment partner. This ensures you are compliant and ready to get paid.

Once these steps are completed, your account will earn money with MPP when readers read your story or subscribe to your content.

This is how people can get enrolled into Medium Partner Program. To join the Partner Program, one will need to meet the following eligibility requirements:

1. Be a Medium member

2. Have published a story within the last 6 months

3. Be located, and file taxes, in an eligible country

4. Be at least 18 years old

5. If one meets all requirements, they can apply to join the program by going to medium.com/partner-program and clicking Apply now.

6. Enroll in the Partner Program.

7. Once accepted into the Partner Program, they need to set up payouts by linking your Medium account with a Stripe account, a third-party payment service. They also need to provide your taxpayer information to Tipalti, a third-party payment service, within 180 days to be able to receive payments from Medium.

  • Once completed, one can begin putting new stories and already published stories behind the paywall to start earning revenue from them.
  • Money is given based on User Engagement on the posts.
  • When Medium members read, listen, and engage with the stories, people receive a portion of their membership dues. Higher-quality stories full of your insights, personal experiences, and knowledge will travel further on Medium and earn more money.
  • Now after payouts, People can check their payment estimates in their Partner Program Earnings Dashboard and review the different engagement metrics there.

Also, If a Story is to be made eligible for earning money, these steps could be followed:

Step 1: Enter the “Edit” mode by visiting the post page, clicking the three-dot button located at the top-right corner then choose Edit Story.

Step 2: At this Point, click the three-dot button located at the top-right corner of the page.

Step 3: From the drop-menu, click Manage paywall setting.

Step 4: Select the option to make the current story eligible to earn.

Step 5: Click Save. The targeted story is now eligible to earn money.

If going by the current stats, the Indian writers are able to earn quite some amount of money from Medium now as the Medium Partner Program is on play and serves the users with its services.

  • According to Medium, about 60 percent of the Indian writers on medium are able to earn between 10 US dollars and 100 US dollars.
  • About 30 percent of the users earn between 100 to 1000 US dollars.
  • About 5 percent of the users of Indian Medium community are in the Elite Club , earning over 1000 US dollars.

About boosting the money earned from Medium, the users can follow a consistent and productive approach for their work to get going on. Medium pays the users based on per read time not per view, that means the amount of time spent on a post is very significant in terms of Medium earning dynamics.

By numbers:

  • Writers with 1000 followers on Medium are able to earn an average of 50 US Dollars a month
  • And, writers with 10000 followers are expected to earn around 500 US Dollars a month.

Problem 1: Competition

There is a lot of competition for the Indian Writers. They have to face competition whether they are from the club of newer joining people or from the ones who have joined very early.

Problem 2: Saturation

When compared to other countries, there are less number of paid subscribers from India. There will be a small number of paid readers from India with most others being writers who hope to earn from Medium.

Problem 3: Money Parity

$5 for a first-world country is not the same as in a third-world country. We get Netflix for $2 while in the US it starts from $7. Just for you to understand the value difference.

  • Someone earning $100 from the US is not the same as someone from India earning $100. So the reward is good (comparatively).
  • Yet, most of the (paid members) audiences are from first-world countries. Again we are going to compete for the share in the same pool.
  • To increase the pool size, Medium will eventually try to accommodate more wider audience base.
  • In a country like India, most players like Netflix play for the volume of customers.
  • If Medium decides to reduce the subscription fees for India, it could be bad for writers.

Problem 4: Algorithms

Medium is changing (experimenting) with the algorithms for the distribution of stories and calculating earnings often. May be too often but it is good for the future scope.

Medium is a great platform for the Indian writers now as they are paid for their job efforts using the Medium Partner Program and the further landscape appears dynamic and promising while the transition is a bit tough for the people but it would happen over time.

Also the problem that lies in the whole scenario is the less paycheck for Indian writers for mediums which can be resolved in the near future. Medium Writers tend to be having a great future on the platform. Indian writers may have to wait a little while to be paid as equal as the foreign creators present on Medium.

Are Indian Writers Compensated by Medium in 2024? – FAQs

1. how are earnings calculated.

For the stories posted on Medium, the amount to be paid to the writer is calculated based on Medium member activity: reading, listening, claps, highlights, replies, and follows.

2. What happens when a member uses a Friend Link to read my writing?

If they’re not Medium members, you can send them a Friend Link: a special link you get for every story that allows anyone to bypass our paywall. Feel free to use that when sharing your story broadly. When members read your story through the Friend Link, they will still contribute to your earnings.

3. Can I earn money for my stories when they’re in a publication?

Yes, you can set your story to be eligible to earn and also include it in a Medium publication. You will earn money through the Partner Program through the normal process and will receive all of the earnings.

4. Does Medium supports PayPal for Partner Program payouts?

Unfortunately, Medium currently doesn’t supports PayPal or any other third-party payment provider for Partner Program payments. Stripe is the only third-party payment service that is supported at this time.

Is Textbroker a secure way to make money with AI around?

Yes, Textbroker is a haven for real people to make real money from writing content without the use of artificial intelligence. You may be wondering, since anyone and everyone can write using AI, is human-generated content important? The answer is simple: Writing is not necessarily of good quality just because it was generated by AI. There are plenty of flaws in artificial intelligence writing content, including bias and AI hallucinations , in which false information is generated and presented as fact. Even Google is wary of using AI for content writing. So, don’t expect ChatGPT and the like to replace writer jobs any time soon.

AI is far from perfect when it comes to creating content, and our clients know this. That’s why they trust Textbroker to guarantee human-created content. We expect our freelancers to understand that we expect them to create original work. While the primary focus of our authors is creating original work, we’re adopting AI for specific clients interested in human-enhanced, AI-generated content. If you specialize in enhancing AI-generated content, don’t worry — there is a place for your talents on our platform. We do have specialized teams that focus on AI-created content.

Before we share the curated list of contests and awards for short stories in India, we want to share a bit about what prompted us to create this list.

Why should you submit to contests and awards for short stories in India?

A story always begins with an idea followed by writing, lots of it. You write you to edit and then you write some more. This involves multiple sleepless nights of doubt, weeks of introspection, and countless discussions with friends and fellow writers. It is only after such an arduous process that you manage to create something you are extremely proud of – a story that’s worthy of winning an award or two at least.

After  where to submit my work , the most asked question is which contests to send my work to. Writing competitions are a good way of analyzing your writing skills. Participating in writing competitions also helps you build a great writer’s CV. This list of Contests and Awards for Short stories in India has been created to help writers achieve this.

That is the reason we encourage aspiring writers to participate in Contests and Awards for Short stories in India. Some awards offer money, but if your interest is earning through writing, check out our blog on seven ways to earn money through writing.

Hey! This list has quite helped me a lot and I have sent many of my short stories to the websites recommended here. So thank you for that 😊 But now this list has become outdated and thus I wish that you keep to your promise and update this list frequently 💜. Then it would be helpful to me and hopefully a plethora of dreamers pursuing their ambitions. Once again thank you for accompanying me in this hopeful journey called life.

Thanks a million. This has been so helpful. You’re a great resource. Deeply appreciate.

I have self published my book, Values and School Practices’ by Power Publishers Kolkata. There are stories of true events related to students of tribal students, life of tribals. The atrocities, bias and discrimination against tribals and scheduled caste are also dealt in some stories. The human values and the need of social justice are illustrated in each of the stories . Where can I apply for an award/recognition?

Congratulations, Shivendra. You might find some relevant awards at this link: https://www.himalayanwritingretreat.com/awards-for-self-published-books/

Fiction books have always held a special place in my heart, and I wanted to leave a comment to express my appreciation for the captivating world they create. Whether it’s a thrilling mystery, a heartwarming romance, or a mind-bending science fiction tale, fiction books have the power to transport us to different realms, evoke a range of emotions, and ignite our imagination.

Congrats everyone.

Wow! This article is simply amazing !!!

Sir How to ensure that the stories submitted are not stolen or plagiarized?

You have to trust the process. If you’re very particular, you can copyright them as explained at https://www.himalayanwritingretreat.com/how-to-copyright-your-book-in-india-or-your-story/

Strategies For Earning Money By Writing

Ghost writing, copywriting, technical writing, social media writing, magazine and newspaper writing, frequently asked questions (faqs).

Do you have a way with words? You could turn your prowess with pronouns, verbs and adjectives into a lucrative side hustle when you learn how to make money by writing. Many large and small websites hire freelance writers to produce their content, offering you a platform to share your insights and an opportunity to make some extra dough. Even those who have never written anything besides personal social media posts or journal entries can find a place to sell their writing. This list provides a step-by-step guide to how to earn money by writing and will answer all your questions, whether you’re a beginning or veteran scribe.

You can make money by writing in many different ways, including blogging, ghost writing, penning reviews and working for small businesses. You have a greater chance of being published by pursuing several options simultaneously instead of prioritizing one. It’s like baiting multiple fishhooks. The more you cast, the better your odds of pulling something in.

You will make the most money by working for bigger sites and businesses, and you can do nearly all of it remotely. Ghostwriting pays better than blogging because businesses want more polished, focused writing. Blogging, however, may take less time and allow you the chance to complete more assignments. Journalism gives you greater opportunities for creativity in your work, and social media writing appeals to those who like pithy, funny writing. Copywriting and technical writing can be drier, but they also provide higher payment and steadier work than other writing. Here is a breakdown of the main ways to make money while writing.

Blogging means publishing content online written especially for that publication. Individuals, businesses, journalists, influencers, homemakers and many more publish blogs, which are often but not always written in first person. Anyone can write their own blog and publish it through a self-publishing platform, such as Medium, Blogger or WordPress.

The time and effort required for blogging depends on what you write about. For instance, if you run in your spare time and decide to start a running blog, you may be able to write several short blogs about running a race in under an hour. But if you want to explore the ethical implications of artificial intelligence using reliable sources, it could take hours to finish one post. The better the writing and sourcing, the better a post will perform, so making the extra effort to be informed and publishing grammatically correct copy is always worth it.

You don’t need experience to become a blogger. Anyone can do it, though it may take a while for you to settle into a style and voice that becomes popular. You need readers to make money on a blog. People make money on blogs in several ways:

  • Advertising : You can sign on with a blogging ad network or sell your own ads to local businesses to make money.
  • Sponsorship : You can write about a sponsor’s products in return for money, though you must disclose that you received compensation for your post.
  • Syndication : You can sign on with syndication networks to distribute your blog on larger networks that will pay for your work.

How much can you make from blogging? The answer varies according to how often you publish, what type of payment method you use, and the popularity of your work. Some top bloggers make six figures per year. Sponsorships with big companies like Walmart that pay people to hawk their goods can be lucrative, paying thousands of dollars. But most bloggers make a few hundred dollars per month, enough to pay off a car or credit card bill but not enough to live on.

Blogging, ghost writing, copywriting, technical writing, social media writing and newspaper and ... [+] magazine writing are six of the most lucrative ways to earn money writing.

Ghost writing is the most lucrative type of writing. Ghost writers channel the voice of a third party, writing as though they were that person or business and presenting their ideas in first person. Businesses and thought leaders use ghost writers to take their thoughts and ideas and present them in a prettier package.

Ghost writing can take many forms. You might produce communications for a company CEO or create a book about an important event for a historical society. Every job is a little different. Ghost writing usually requires several years of writing experience, though if you are a subject matter expert on something—for example, if you are a nurse asked to write articles for a nursing degree program—then you may be able to get a job without writing experience. Time spent on an assignment will vary, but it takes longer than blogging. Ghost writing demands high-level clarity, grammar and readability.

You can make money by earning an hourly or per-project rate from the client. Most ghost writing gigs pay well, from $50 per hour and more. Some ghost writers pull in six figures per year, though those have extensive experience. To get started, search LinkedIn for the words “freelance writer” or “writer.” Or think about companies you would like to work with and send an email to the hiring manager introducing yourself and spelling out your expertise. You can also sign on with agencies that hire out ghost writers to businesses. Again, send your resume and a letter of introduction (LOI) to the agency hiring manager or search job ads online.

Copywriting is similar to ghostwriting, but sometimes you will receive a byline and the writing is not always presented in first person. Copywriting includes copy on businesses’ websites, material for pamphlets, mission statements, advertising, newsletters and more. People with copywriting skills are persuasive and clear writers good at conveying information and encouraging sales.

You can start with simple copywriting jobs and work your way up to higher-paying ones. Experience is required for bigger companies, but small businesses around your town might hire an inexperienced writer. You can begin by approaching them and offering to, for instance, rewrite their website or start a monthly newsletter. As you gain knowledge and confidence, you can reach out online to larger places. Follow freelance job boards to find new opportunities, interact with companies on LinkedIn to get your name out there, and send LOIs to hiring managers wherever you want to work.

You can get a little creative to find jobs, too. Find newsletters for companies you love or share expertise with. Send them an LOI outlining your subject matter background and what you could contribute. Copywriting work requires precision and often background research, and it takes longer than many other types of writing. You can make a good living as, like with ghost writing, clients tend to pay on the higher end of the payscale for copywriters, often $40 per hour and more. The best copywriters can make more than $150,000 per year.

Technical writing refers to communicating information about niche topics, such as medicine, engineering, manufacturing or construction. It can also encompass things like the directions to put something together or operate an electronic device. The aim is to create digestible, informative content while eliminating jargon.

Technical writing requires a great deal of writing experience, but it can be lucrative. Few people have the skills to boil down information and serve it back up in the right format. It can take hours to finish even a short writing assignment because you need to get every word right and leave out extraneous ones. But most jobs are paid per hour ($60 and up for experienced writers), so the time and effort pay off.

A lot of technical writing jobs are full time. But you can find part-time opportunities using job sites such as LinkedIn, Indeed, Monster and more. Taking courses in technical writing could be a worthy investment, as that background will open up new opportunities and give you valuable experience.

Technical writing, a great way to earn money by writing, may involve simplifying jargon and ... [+] complexities for a lay audience.

Social media writing is a relatively new way to make money. Many businesses hire people to write captions on Instagram , video descriptions on YouTube , thought leadership posts on LinkedIn and much more. This is an excellent entry point for writers with little formal experience.

Social media writing pays more modestly than other types of business writing, anywhere from $15-$35 per hour. However, it takes less effort. You can often bang out lots of posts in an hour, and very little knowledge or experience is needed, beyond knowing the character limits for different social platforms. You can find jobs by looking at writing job sites or reaching out directly to businesses with LOIs. Try small businesses in your hometown first to get some examples for your resume before targeting more prominent places.

Magazine and newspaper writing is one of the more specialized forms of writing to make money. But if you have some training and are more interested in writing as a means of changing the world and informing people, it is a worthy pursuit. You can start by publishing pieces in hometown newspapers or niche magazines.

You won’t break the bank with journalism writing. Even some bigger papers and publications pay less than $1,000 per story, and you would need to string together a lot of assignments to make a living. But to make extra spending money and perhaps affect change, you can’t beat journalism. You will need to learn the publication’s style guide and adhere to it for pieces you submit. Editors make assignments, which you can get by pitching (sending a cold email) to the editor explaining your story idea and why you are the right person to write it.

Time and effort vary depending on the scope of the story. Many can be quite involved. Editors often prefer to work with people who have experience, so build up your resume with pitches to smaller publications first.

Bottom Line

Writing can be a fun way to make extra money, or you can even turn it into a high-paying career with the right experience. Whether you pen blogs, website copy or social media posts, you can find an outlet that’s “write” for you.

How Much Do Writers Make?

Writers can make a decent salary depending on their experience level and who they write for. How much writers make may depend on on where they work, how many clicks their work generates, and how long the job took.

The salary range for a writer, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics , is a median of $73,690 per year, or $35.43 per hour. Income rises with higher experience levels.

What Websites Pay You To Write?

You can find hundreds of websites that pay for writing. A few of the most popular include:

The Penny Hoarder

Bustle

Transitions Abroad

Vibrant Life

Scary Mommy

Paying websites look for writing they think will draw readers. Using search engine optimization (SEO) techniques, such as incorporating keywords that people search for, can generate higher traffic, so be sure to mention any SEO knowledge when you apply, as that will help your chances. The more views you generate, the more money the website makes. Create a portfolio of your past work that you can share when you apply for jobs that shows your best efforts.

How Can You Get Paid To Write Reviews?

You can get paid to write reviews across a number of platforms for products ranging from books to vacuum cleaners. Some of the most popular include Get Reviewed , Kirkus , UserTesting and Amazon Vine , though note that you get paid in products for that site.

To become a reviewer, you may need no experience at all for many sites. They value trustworthiness and honest feedback. Some hire people they find through online reviews they have already posted. Other sites require more extensive background in writing reviews. For instance, if you want to work for DotDash, one of the largest editorial operations on the web that runs lots of reviews across its sites, you will need writing experience for a major website and product expertise.

How Can You Get Paid To Write Letters?

You can write letters and get paid by watching for these jobs on freelance sites such as Upwork , Contently , compose.ly and Fiverr , which serve as clearinghouses to hire writers for businesses. A business may need one letter or a series. You can gain repeat work if you do a good job.

You may have seen TikTok and YouTube videos about writing handwritten notes for businesses and earning $5 per letter. This is a scam that has been debunked by multiple websites. You won’t find companies paying you a lot of money to write handwritten letters. They want polished, professional copy for communications with clients and customers, and you must have experience doing this type of work. It falls under copywriting and can pay $40 per hour or more.

How Can You Get Paid To Write As A Beginner?

How can you get paid to write for beginners? Breaking in with little experience can be difficult. Some aspiring writers choose to take volunteer gigs to build their portfolio, but you can probably find low-paying work that will do the same for you.

Search job boards such as Indeed, ZipRecruiter, Monster and LinkedIn. You can also start a blog of your own with no experience, though it will take time to monetize it using the strategies outlined above. You could also submit poetry or prose to literary magazines, which usually pay an honorarium, or submit finished essays to magazines or newspapers. As you gain experience, you can approach higher-paying markets.

5 Unexpected Advantages of Money Market Accounts Over CDs

Published on July 7, 2024

Jordi Lippe-McGraw

By: Jordi Lippe-McGraw

  • Enjoy easy access to your funds without early withdrawal penalties.
  • Benefit from variable interest rates that can rise with the economy.
  • Take advantage of check-writing capabilities and other perks.

If you're saving money, you likely want to ensure your hard-earned cash isn't just sitting around, but actively working for you. That's where the big debate between certificates of deposit (CDs) and money market accounts (MMAs) comes into play.

1. Fee-free access to your cash

First up, and perhaps the most liberating, is the access MMAs offer. Unlike CDs, which lock your money away for months or even years, MMAs allow you to dip into your funds without a penalty. (You may be limited to six or fewer convenient withdrawals, per old rules under Regulation D, but this varies by bank.)

Our Picks for the Best High-Yield Savings Accounts of 2024

2. Variable interest rates

While it's true that CDs often start with higher interest rates -- currently around 3.90% APY to 5.25% -- MMAs aren't far behind, with typical rates ranging from 3.75% APY to 5.30% APY depending on the balance. However, they have a trick up their sleeve -- their rates can increase.

Since the interest rates on MMAs are typically variable, they benefit from economic tides. So, in a rising rate environment, your MMA could start to outpace your CD rate while offering the flexibility CDs lack.

3. You can write checks

Believe it or not, the good old-fashioned checkbook has its perks in the era of digital wallets and contactless payments. Many money market accounts come with the ability to write checks directly from the account. This feature is a nod to the old school that saves you the hassle of transferring money to a checking account just to cover larger expenses.

Whether it's paying the contractor for that unexpected home repair or settling the bill at your child's orthodontist, an MMA keeps things simple and streamlined.

4. A safety net that grows with you

MMAs are like that friend who's always there, even as your life changes and grows. With no term limits, you can keep your money in an MMA indefinitely, allowing your savings to grow and adapt with you. Depending on where you are in life, you might be saving for a home down payment, building an emergency fund, or stashing away money for retirement. MMAs offer a perpetual safety net without the need to renew or roll over your investments, as you would with CDs.

5. Potential perks and privileges

Banks love customers who keep more of their money with them, and they often show this love through perks associated with higher-balance accounts like MMAs. From waived fees on accounts to higher rates on loans, the benefits can add up. Some banks even offer tiered interest rates on MMAs, which means the more you save, the more you earn.

For instance, balances over $10,000 might earn 3.75% APY, while those over $50,000 could fetch up to 4.05% APY. This kind of preferential treatment can make MMAs not just a place to park your money but a gateway to a more fruitful relationship with your bank.

Money market accounts offer a compelling blend of flexibility, growth potential, and convenience that CDs struggle to match. They strike a balance between the need to access your money and the desire to see it grow. After all, who doesn't want their money to work as smart as they do? So, the next time you're pondering where to stash your cash, remember that MMAs could be your savings strategy's new best friend.

What Happens When Your Bank Isn’t Really a Bank and Your Money Disappears?

For unsuspecting depositors of online financial start-ups, the unraveling of a little-known intermediary has separated them from their life savings.

An illustration shows the facade of a building with a colonnade and a money sign crumbling from one corner, surrounded by clouds and a large computer mouse cursor.

By Rob Copeland

Rob Copeland covers Wall Street and banks but has never before encountered this type of unusual conundrum.

For close to a century, putting your savings into a federally insured bank has been a sure thing: If the institution fails, up to $250,000 of your money will be protected.

What if it isn’t anymore?

The promise of bank insurance — a tenet of U.S. consumer protection since the Great Depression — is now being tested by a crisis swirling around online-only lenders with hundreds of millions of dollars of deposits between them. Customer accounts have been frozen, preventing people from cashing out their life savings. Most depositors have little clue where their money has gone, and whether they will get any of it back.

The turmoil was set off this spring with the bankruptcy of Synapse Financial Technologies, the kind of company you’ve probably never heard of unless you suffered through all the fine print of your account statements. It operated banking software for fast-growing online lenders with names like Juno, Yieldstreet and Yotta.

Backed by some of Silicon Valley’s bigger venture capitalists, the start-ups offer accounts that charge lower fees and pay far higher interest rates than traditional brick-and-mortar banks. Their slick websites advertise insurance from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the U.S. agency that pledges to pay back lost funds.

Unlike stodgy brick-and-mortar institutions, this group’s pitch is that banking can be downright fun. “Play Games. Win Big,” says Yotta, which features a lottery-like system that boosts returns for some lucky customers.

This model is increasingly popular — especially among 20- and 30-somethings — and legal.

The rub is that although these start-ups may look and feel like banks, they are not. They simply collect customer money and pass it through financial technology intermediaries like Synapse to old-school banks that may have as few as one physical branch and minimal online presence. The banks, including Evolve Bank & Trust of West Memphis, Ark., according to filings, are the ones that actually manage the depositors’ money.

Among the various revenue generation sources from the Internet, Article Writing has proved to be the best method of earning some great money. It is indeed a way to earn some good money and many writers are earning through Article Writing as their main source of income.

Article writing has become a source of revenue for a number of people all over the world. More and more people are getting attracted to this new source of gaining money. As the tentacles of internet become more spread out, there are a lot of opportunities for emerging writers.

Article writing is an art which has to be mastered if one has to earn some good amount of money from it. There are numerous opportunities for an article writer if he has good command over English language and has creativity in his articles. Also, tools such as SEO will obviously enhance his writing skills and popularity.

These sites are Free-lance writing sites as well as Pay Per View sites and offer upfront money to the writer. 1) Ayushveda.com: I rate this site as the best Free-Lance Article Writing Site for Indian Writers. This is because they have a great payment structure where one can easily earn around 10,000-15,000 per month from writing articles. Based in Panchkula, Ayushveda offers great compensation for writing articles on various subjects like Health, Technology, Travel or Fashion. One has to choose the subject to write on from Ayushveda’s vast directory of SEO enhanced topics. Ayushveda has a number of websites where they publish your article. The rules for submission are very strict and one has to write quality articles only. Special emphasis is paid to grammar and pronunciation of sentences. They have a grade system in which if a writer is found below the level of 5.0 points, he is removed from the membership and barred from writing any more articles. Ayushveda currently pays Rs.120/- for a 500+ words and Rs.80/- for a 350+ words article which is great for a beginner and the highest rate for an Indian Site. The payment is made every fortnight (15 days) i.e. twice a month. The minimum payout is Rs.2500/- and payment is prompt and made through direct bank transfer to your account. Ayushveda strives on quality of the article you submit and as such one has to maintain top quality writing material to earn from Ayushveda.

The selection procedure is simple, where in you have to register as a member and have to submit two sample articles of your writing material. If selected, you can start immediately.

2) Expertscolumn.com: This is another site which can be rated as a good one for Indian writers. The most favorable part of Expertscolumn is that you can submit your already published articles on this site. Please take care to see that your author name is the same as the one you submit for other site or your articles may get rejected. This sites pays you on per 1000 views and their current rate is anywhere between 1.50 to 2.00 $ per 1000 views. This is a good source of passive income for the writers as you can always submit your published articles to Expertscolumn and find your income grow. But at the same time, to earn some seriously money from this site, you should be patient and have at least around 300-400 articles submitted to Expertscolumn. The registration process is quite simple and payment is through altertpay and direct bank transfer for Indians only. The minimum payout is 5$.

3) Exposeknowledge.com : Exposeknowledge is an Article Submission site which pays up-front payment to the writer on the articles being approved. The payout is very less as compared to Ayushveda but they are a bit lenient on their approval system. You can virtually submit articles on any subject and they may get approved. Their payment system consists in the range of 0.40 $ to 1.20 $ depending on the quality and uniqueness of the content. Along with the up-front bonus, there is a point system in Exposeknowledge wherein you get points on submitting articles, forum posting or referring members. The points can be changed with cash incentives and the current rate is around 3.00 $ per 1000 points. There is no grading system in Exposeknowledge and as such writers can write articles as per their choice. They either get accepted or rejected. Minimum payout is 20$ and they pay through paypal/alertpay. A good site for beginners.

4) Boddunan.com: Boddunan is an Indian site which is gaining in popularity among the Indian writers for quite some time. Boddunan is an article writing site as well as a social networking site. Around Rs.25 to Rs.50 per article are given on each article depending on the quality. As with Exposeknowledge, Boddunan too offers points on various forum discussions and referring system. They even have weekly contests where one can participate for gaining cash rewards. Along with this Boddunan distributes a part of its advertising income to its active members and the current rate is around Rs.60/- for 1000 points collected. One can easily earn around Rs.2000/- to Rs.2500/- per month from Boddunan. But you have to give at least 2 to 3 hours of your time each day to earn from Boddunan. The registration process is also simple and free. Payment is made through cheque and the minimum payout is Rs.1500/-.

5) IndiaStudychannel.com: This is a very popular site among Indian students. Indiastudychannel (ISC) is an educational site which offers revenue to the students who participate in forum discussions, submitting of articles or resources as they call it, or submitting your educational material. The payment is same as in Boddunan i.e. Rs.25 to 50 per article accepted and the minimum payout is Rs.250/- for the first payment and then Rs.750/- from the next payout onwards. There are various cash incentives and gifts to be earned in ISC and one can participate in various competitions for earning some great revenue.

These are the top 5 Indian Article Submission Sites which an Indian Writer can begin with in order to earn some money. These sites are good for beginners and as you advance with your writing skills, one can try out some good Article Submission Sites like Factoidz or Triond.

Please comment on any other sites which you may think are worthy of getting some real income for Indian Writers and I will post them in the next Article.

A general view of BYD electric vehicles at a store in Sydney

Chinese electric vehicles are transforming Australia’s car market. Are we getting a good deal?

China’s electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers are having a moment.

For a long time, the race to electrify motoring has been almost synonymous with American carmaker Tesla, a clear early leader.

But Chinese manufacturer BYD has been closing the gap, with some projections indicating it could overtake Tesla on annual battery-only electric vehicle sales this year.

That has implications for Australia, which is becoming a strong market for green motoring.

Year-to-date, new battery-only EV sales in Australia are up 16.5% . Hybrids and plug-in hybrids (vehicles that use a combination of a battery and conventional fuel) performed even more strongly over the same period, up 114.6% .

Among the more than 30 brands currently marketing EVs in Australia, BYD’s options are proving popular. Back in January, the company’s monthly Australian sales beat Tesla’s for the first time, with 1,310 cars compared to Tesla’s 1,107.

And it’s not the only major Chinese brand with a presence here, set to be joined soon by a host of others including XPeng, Zeekr and Aion.

As new, more affordable EVs continue to flood Australia’s car market, will consumers here be the winners?

Electric is finally becoming affordable

EVs, and particularly Tesla’s offerings, have long had to struggle against perceptions of being overpriced .

One of the biggest appeals of Chinese EV brands is their perceived value for money. Many consumers who once felt locked out of the market are being enticed by new, more affordable offers.

BYD’s popular Atto 3 SUV, for example, starts at A$44,499, while Tesla’s basic version of the Model 3 costs $54,900 after discounts .

Brand new Tesla Y and 3 cars waiting to be picked up from a distribution centre.

The increasing availability of Chinese brands is making the Australian market more competitive, forcing major brands to reduce prices. Tesla has already reduced prices three times since the start of April for its most popular version of the Model Y .

Free trade advantages are also boosting affordability here. Unlike the United States and the European Union , Australia is not imposing new tariffs on Chinese-made EVs, as it doesn’t have a domestic car manufacturing industry to protect.

Too good to be true?

The coming wave of affordable EVs might seem like a win-win for Australian consumers. But as relatively new entrants, it will take time for these brands to establish reputations in Australia for quality, serviceability and value.

There are reasons for consumers to tread carefully.

In 2023, the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) urged customers to be aware of the potential security risks of buying a Chinese-made EV.

Man controlling dashboard on an electric vehicle.

More generally, EVs rely on connection to the internet for a range of tasks, and collect swathes of personal data including locations, routes driven and calls made by drivers. ASPI warned that this personal privacy issue may become a national security risk if a person drives to a secure facility.

There are also supply chain concerns. About 80% of EVs sold in Australia, including Tesla models, are manufactured in China . Any disruptions in China, whether natural or geopolitical, could impact car production and supply to the Australian and global markets.

And while a more affordable electric vehicle market is good news, concerns about price instability may also put off some customers.

Australian customers who purchased the Tesla Model Y in March before three subsequent rounds of price cuts have missed out on almost $10,000 in savings. Growing uncertainty about whether EV prices will drop further could put some people off, especially as more than ten new brands prepare to enter the Australian market .

EVs face broader challenges in Australia

Despite the growing number of brands and models on offer, there remain several hurdles for the full adoption of EVs in Australia.

The country continues to lack sufficient EV infrastructure like charging facilities, a problem only heightened by its vast distances. Despite an ongoing rollout , charging infrastructure remains sparse in Australia.

Recent research found that more than $1.2 billion in investment would be required to establish 5,800 fast-charging sites across Australia by 2040.

Some individuals looking to install charging infrastructure at home are facing high costs and possible new problems getting insured due to fire risks.

Electric Vehicles Charging Station at a multi level car park in Adelaide

A 2022 survey found that irrespective of brand and manufacturing location, Australian users have several broader concerns about EVs. Of these, safety concerns trumped both price and perceived benefits as an impact on intention to buy.

Australia is also suffering from a stubborn shortage of EV technicians. A recent survey across 2,000 advertised EV technician jobs found that only about 40% were filled.

Despite these concerns, the growing uptake of electric and hybrid vehicles is likely to bring significant benefits to the Australian economy. It’s also an important step in achieving our net zero targets.

Government and industry should focus on speeding up adoption by mitigating these challenges sooner rather than later.
