During my Beyond Body review, I wanted to take some pictures of preparing my lunch before work. In the photo below I made the Beyond Body salad wrap.

This is probably one of the fastest and easiest meals to prepare when you need a filling meal during a work lunch break. I did add in extra pieces like pickled cucumbers, tomatoes and caramelized onion.

I recommend with any diet, adding in extra veggies and salads to bulk up the food, this helps stay full for longer. Because you shouldn’t be starving from one meal to the next.

They give plenty of options for breakfast, lunch and dinner to try and they are super tasty and easy to make. You’ll get endless substitutes and a great selection of snacks between each meal.

Overall, following their meal plan was simple, delicious and fast meals to prepare without requiring to spend hours in the kitchen.

Fittingly called BookTok (short for “Book TikTok” ), the subcommunity of the social media platform is self-described as “the biggest book club on the planet.”

Enthusiastic readers connect with one another to share book reviews, reactions and curated lists of recommended must reads.

This niche corner of TikTok, with the hashtag #booktok, has amassed over 112 billion views. With numbers like that, no surprise it’s a powerful force within the publishing industry with BookTok darlings tending to fly off the shelves. It has been credited for helping authors sell over 20 million books in 2021, according to NPD BookScan data per the New York Times . 

Even Hollywood is taking notice of this BookTok effect with some of the most popular reads being adapted into movies and TV series, like “It Ends with Us” by Colleen Hoover and “Daisy Jones & the Six ” by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

“Stone Maidens” by Lloyd Devereux Richards 

This mystery novel published in 2012 just skyrocketed onto the bestseller list when the author’s daughter posted a TikTok about her dad’s modestly selling book. 

As the chief forensic anthropologist for the FBI Chicago field office, Christine Prusik has seen her fair share of creepy cases. But her newest assignment seems to top them all. A serial killer is strangling young women and leaving their lifeless bodies in southern Indiana ravines with a curious calling card of carved stone figurines. And even more peculiar, the figurines are replicas of the spirit stones found among the primitive tribe in Papua New Guinea that Christine narrowly escaped while doing field research a decade prior. 'The Inheritance Games' by Jennifer Lynn Barnes 

For Avery Grambs, current plans are simply to survive high school. Then, the unexpected happens and she becomes heir to an enormous fortune. 'They Both Die at the End' by Adam Silvera 

For Mateo Torrez and Rufus Emeterio, the hypothetical question of what would you do if you only had 24 hours left to live is more than something to casually consider, it is their reality. On a day in September, shortly after midnight, both teenage boys receive a call from the futuristic Death-Cast notifying them of their impending doom. Mateo and Rufus are each looking for a friend to spend their End Day with and find one another through an app called Last Friend. The two strangers team up for one final hurrah, experiencing life in a way they never have, before going their separate ways forever. ' Mexican Gothic' by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

In the 1950s, glamorous débutante Noemí Taboada heads to the Mexican countryside after her father receives an ominous letter from her newlywed cousin begging for someone to save her from mysterious doom. Arriving at High Place, where her cousin now lives, Noemi uncovers secrets behind the walls of the decaying mansion. Yet she is also drawn to the seductive world of the house, which makes it hard for her to leave High Place behind. This suspenseful read, which offers commentary on racism, generational trauma and domestic abuse, has BookTokers obsessed.

'Off the Deep End' by Lucinda Berry

'I Have Some Questions for You' by Rebecca Makkai

Successful film professor and podcaster Bodie Kane is content forgetting her past — not the least of which includes the murder of her senior year roommate, Thalia Keith, at a boarding school in New Hampshire. But when the Granby School invites her to return to teach a course, Bodie is forced to confront the things that happened in 1995 that she has been trying so hard to forget. Bodie starts to question if the conviction of the school athletic trainer, Omar Evans, was a rush to judgment and if Thalia’s real killer could still be out there. “The Shadow of Perseus” by Claire Heywood 

The story of Greek mythological hero, Perseus, is told through the voices of three women who are sidelined in the traditional version: His mother, Danae; his temptress, Medusa; and his wife, Andromeda. This all-female mythological reinterpretation takes Perseus down from his heroic pedestal, revealing him to be a man obsessed with his own destiny, not good.

'Dark Matter' by Blake Crouch 

Jason Dessen is an ordinary college physics professor who lives with his family in Chicago. Everything in his life seems predictable until a masked abductor knocks him unconscious. When he awakens, he finds himself strapped to a gurney and surrounded by unfamiliar people in hazmat suits. He is greeted with, “Welcome back, my friend,” only Jason has no idea who the man is smiling down at him. In fact, everything seems different. ' Big Swiss' by Jen Beagin

'Pineapple Street' by Jenny Jackson 

Three women, one Brooklyn family ... and lots of money. Darley, the eldest in the family, gave up her job and her inheritance for motherhood. Sasha, who married into the well-connected family, always feels like an outsider. And the youngest of the family, Georgiana, is in love with someone she ultimately can’t have. 'Central Places' by Delia Cai

Are you aiming to increase web traffic or grow your social media presence? Figure out why you’re leveraging paid media in the first place and build your strategy from there. Having clearly defined goals in mind will help you focus on your brand’s key priorities.

2. Outline a TOFU/MOFU/BOFU Strategy

Designing strategies that cater to all three stages of the buyer journey ensures that you’re maximizing your brand’s reach. Every user at every stage is valuable—and you have to make sure you’re creating paid media content that speaks to each audience type.

3. Research Keywords for Search

Effective paid media is tied to targeting the right keywords. If you’re leveraging paid search ads to appear on SERPs (search engine results pages), then in-depth research is necessary. Bid on the keywords that are most relevant to your business to trigger only the most effective ad appearances.

With over 84 billion views globally, #BookTok is one of TikTok’s most active and enthusiastic communities — all united around the singular goal of sharing a love for reading and books. Since TikTok’s global rise to popularity, now boasting over 1 million active monthly users , #BookTok has made a splash and led to several important partnerships and activations on the platform. Because of that, the books that went viral on TikTok have led to many many sales for these authors.

The #BookTokChallenge was held this summer and challenged TikTok users to share what they were reading. Held from June 29-August 31, the hashtag currently has 170 million views and features several creators and a partnership with Barnes & Noble. And at the end of September, TikTok announced a collaboration with Penguin Random House that allows creators to link their favorite books in-app. This feature is currently available in the U.S. and UK.

In preparation for compiling this list, a quick scroll through #BookTok unearthed top videos primarily from white creators who focus on books by white authors with mostly white characters. Thanks to TikTok’s algorithm, users can curate their feeds with diverse creators who feature a variety of titles, but the first challenge is finding those creators and actively engaging with their content. It is the hope that looking up some of these titles will introduce you to a new side of #BookTok (if you’re not already there).

There’s no doubt that #BookTok is an incredibly useful platform — having given several backlist titles new life and a second chance at The New York Times Best Seller lists. With it, lesser known or new authors also have an equal opportunity to go viral as globally known ones. And it is amazing to see a new generation fall in love with reading, whether they discover a classic or the latest release.

A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara

This book follows four college friends — Willem, J.B., Malcolm, and Jude — over the course of their adult lives. Having met during college after moving to New York, the friends begin to realize that they know little to nothing about Jude, even though he has become the center of their group. Told in multiple parts, we learn about Jude’s horrific past and how it made him into the man he is today. This book is highly recommended on the platform, but please look up content warnings prior to starting!

On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong

Vuong is more widely known for his poetry and he brings his beautiful imagery and words into this debut. This entire book is written as a letter to the main character’s mother, who is illiterate and will never read it. The book is semi-autobiographical and follows a family of Vietnamese refugees living in the United States. It is very much the coming-of-age story of Little Dog and how his family relates to the new home they’ve found themselves in.

The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang

Despite acing the qualifying exam, Rin is ostracized from her classmates at the elite Sinegard school. She’s darker-complected, from a poor province, and on top of that, she’s a girl. It’s during this time of struggle that Rin discovers she has a secret, powerful ability that may make her the ticket to preventing the next Poppy War. Although this book is fantasy, it draws inspiration from mid-20th century China. Rin’s conflict is based on the Second Sino-Japanese War, and the overall atmosphere of the novel is inspired by the Song dynasty.

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

A mainstay in mystery/thriller #BookTok, The Silent Patient is the story of Alicia Berenson, a famous painter once married to the hottest fashion photographer in the biz. Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica

You may have heard about “the cannibal TikTok book,” well here it is. Originally published in Spanish, the English translation was made available in 2020 and quickly swept the internet. In a future world where all animals have been contaminated by a mysterious virus, cannibalism has become legal in order for humans to continue to eat meat. Human slaughterhouses have become commonplace, with specific bodies being created for the purpose of consumption.

Social Media’s Impact on Physical Body Dissatisfaction and Objectified Body Consciousness: Investigating Miami’s Adolescent Self-Perception from Exposure to TikTok

This paper examines the variables that led to the highest levels of objectified body consciousness (OBC) and physical body dissatisfaction (PBD) among adolescents aged 13-19 who were exposed to TikTok and attended school in Miami-Dade County after the COVID-19 pandemic. TikTok is used at high frequencies by various adolescent age ranges; however, previous studies identified that constant exposure leads to negative body image issues, ultimately resulting in long-term detrimental health effects. Factor analysis identified the correlation among variables collected through the distribution of a questionnaire in which adolescents shared their feelings about their body images from exposure to TikTok. The strongest variables identifying PBD and OBC among adolescents were the exposure before and after one’s reported TikTok experience and the belief that one’s TikTok experience affects an adolescent’s perception of their physical appearance and the answer to this question, respectively. This study identified that users who engaged in higher frequencies of TikTok usage were more likely to rate themselves with a higher overall body satisfaction due to pre-established conditioning of harmful exposure from TikTok, regardless of one’s gender. Conclusions drawn were that social media applications such as TikTok directly impact an adolescent’s feeling of OBC and PBD, and increased exposure will only lead to lower PBD levels and higher OBC levels, altering one’s self-perception.

Emily Henry on Writing Best-Sellers Without Tours and TikTok

Emily Henry has never been on a book tour or done a traditional bookstore reading. She’s not on TikTok. Her Instagram features book covers and an occasional giveaway; there are no closet tours, rescue cats or elegantly plated snacks.

Henry doesn’t want to be, as she puts it, a “writer slash mini-celebrity.” She’s a romance novelist , full stop. It’s an uncommon, maybe even gutsy, approach in the era of the all-access pass, when readers of popular fiction expect a level of quasi intimacy with favorite writers.

Nevertheless, Henry — “EmHen” to fans — has launched five No. 1 best-sellers in four years. Her latest blockbuster, “Funny Story,” has been on the best-seller list for nine weeks. In its first two months, the book racked up almost 60,000 customer reviews on Goodreads and sparked a cottage industry of T-shirts, sweatshirts, candles, bookmarks and stickers.

All told, Henry has sold seven million copies of her books in the United States since 2020. Three of her novels are in development to become films. On Tuesday, Henry announced that another, “Happy Place,” is going to be a series on Netflix.

“It’s been kind of a whirlwind,” Henry said. “The last four years have felt like they were 35 seconds long.”

Chatting with Henry outside Coffee Emporium in leafiest Cincinnati, it was hard to imagine her retreating into quietude. She presented as an instant connector, parrying substantive conversation while perusing a menu that included a Brew Hoo, a Flying Piggie and an Orange Jillius. And while we’re in the vicinity of old school mall food courts: Imagine Elisabeth Shue in “ Adventures in Babysitting ” crossed with Carly Simon circa “You’re So Vain” and you have Henry’s blond, brown-eyed warmth.

Real 'Mom and Dad's Swinger Party' Book for Kids?

This "children's book" really exists, but its content was satirical and it was written and published for adults, not children.

On June 24, 2024, an X user posted a video of a woman reading aloud a purported kids' book titled "Mom and Dad's Swinger Party" and suggested the publication proved the queer community is "filled with pedophiles."

Other X users replying to the clip appeared to believe the title was a legitimate children's book , with one writing : "This is disgusting. What would possess someone to write and publish this?"

Similar posts appeared elsewhere on X  in June 2024, with one captioned : "They're going after the kids."

Together, they had amassed more than 640,000 views at the time of this writing.

The claim also appeared in numerous X posts in June 2023, where one user wrote : "Unreal. This is a "childrens" book explaining "Mom & Dad's Swinger Parties". If this isn't grooming a child into adult perversions…I don't know what is. It's probably available at your local school library!"

However, the book was created by Brad Gosse , a comedian, author and YouTuber based in Toronto, Canada, who writes satirical, "dark humor" books in the style of kids' books.

The last page of the publication was shown in the video, where it stated the content was satirical, as follows:

I have over 100 humor books and several strange coloring books available on Amazon. My humor books cover a wide range of topics and styles, from dumb jokes and puns to satirical takes on current events. Whatever your sense of humor, you'll find something to love or hate in my collection.

Gosse's website contained more than 120 children's-style books. It stated: "He loves to entertain people whether it be through his jokes or his books. He started publishing his 'children's books' in 2019. He has published over 120 dark humor books so far."

He also branded himself a "professional troll" in his X bio , where he said: "If you're triggered I'm thrilled."

The video being shared online in June 2024 was originally posted by TikTok user @jenjenivivereads, whose caption read: "Ive [sic] edited this post to say that this is an ADULTS parody book. Because the level of hate im [sic] getting right now is ridiculous."

Some X users who shared the clip in June 2024 later added they had discovered the book was satirical.
